How do I become either a Certified Mechanical Acceptance Testing Technician (MATT) or an Acceptance Testing Employer (ATE)?
There are 4 agencies that can grant Certification to be either a Mechanical Acceptance Testing Technician or Acceptance Testing Employer – or both. These agencies are called ATTCPs (Acceptance Testing Technician Certification Provider).
The first two are non-profit organizations recognized by the California Energy Commission as ATTCPs.:
- RSES – www.RSES.org
- NEBB – www.NEBB.org
The second two agencies are organized labor organizations recognized by the California Energy Commission as ATTCPs.:
- NEMIC/TAAB – www.tabbcertified.org
- The United Association – www.UA.org
On October 1, 2021, statewide enforcement of Mechanical Acceptance Testing begins.
Any non-residential mechanical equipment will require in addition to the normal permits, also required MCH forms.
The purpose of this website is to inform commercial HVAC contractors about these regulations and provide assistance in becoming Certified as an Acceptance Testing Employer (ATE) or as a Mechanical Acceptance Testing Technician (MATT). Any of the ATTCPs currently recognized by the California Energy Commission are welcome to send content and have it posted.
